Life

No heaven for our deeds
Or hell for our sins
No purpose to our future
Or meaning to our past
No truth beyond existence
Alive a minute to nothingness
Apart from those experiences
We are but flesh and meat.

Outside the Boundaries...

Standing in the queue with my to-be fellow passengers I was waiting patiently at the platform, soaking in the vibrant Delhi colors. I was disappointed to see the stopping metro too full and decided to skip the ride. But I guess I was a little too late – for, oblivious to my indecision I was scooped into it with a force that reminded me of my college Blue Line days and of course exiting the metro was as effortless, if I ignore the purse rip!
Well to catch some breath I stopped at the exit platform a little away from the action. And I was awe stuck. All I could see were people – pushing, running, finding their way through the maze, scrambling for space in or out of the station and yet managing to talk with a friend, chat or even text on the phone, block it all with Radio Mirchi or simply catch on a quick sleep! I close my eyes to soak it all in and I could feel the sheer movement.
I was amazed at our capacities to multitask but the pride was short lived for then I thought – When did chaos become such an integral part of our life that we started appreciating it? When did our progress become regressive – so much so that existence was the only meaning to life? When did privacy become so rare that ‘I’ became the eternal truth and ‘We’ became extinct? When did silence, stillness, emptiness become so alien to us that we lost our spirit, our soul? When did we run out of time to stop, question and think - that we could no longer comprehend the blurring boundaries of hell and heaven !

.....

Fly with me on the wings of dreams
As in the winds we dissapear
Walk wth me the path of life
Until there is no single journey we fear

Enjoy with me the beauty of life
The beauty we discover together
Rejoice with me the mysteries of life
The mysteries we uncover

Laugh with me that single true laugh
so that no distress can last
Cry with me that single tear
To experience true happiness alas

Find warmth in me, in each other's arms
When harshness pulls us down
Find the strength in me in each other's strength
When dispair is around

Find peace in me in our souls
When everything seems insane
Find love in me in each other's hearts
When you want to achieve life's aim....

Poetry

My poetry isnt a work of art
But that of slumber
To reveal the unsaid
The hopes yet unbread

Its neither for you
nor for he\she
I write to rediscover
The lost me...

Home Sweet Home...

I wonder sometimes...

I speak of the ones
who say,
'A road less traveled is what I take'
Questioning every choice they make
On the precipice of an ending day...

Every road is long, undiscovered terrain
Imprinting memory in the brain
The moments spent in the hay days
Making the journey worth its every grain....

From north to south and back again
I followed my dreams unlike the rest
Escaping the nature's rosy den.
Foresaking the roads that lead to west

Now as the journey has a reached a final chore
Its time to lead to 'Home Sweet Home'
But where is it on this treacherous lane
A place of comfort the ultimate solace...

For even home it seems to me
Is still a choice we all face
For day to day and endlessly
The choice of home is going to be
The very road we took that very lane
Where we want to be again and again
The space in time , most apropos
Another road, or just a lane....

Voice of Silence

Silence is ..

A roar of an ocean wave
Sound of a wordless praise
Shiver of the rustling leaf
A tear of grief.

An Unsaid acceptance
An Unrequited rejection
A sigh of relief
A Muffled apology

A child’s first smile
Hope’s last mile
A lover’s exhausted sleep
A winner’s last leap

A clash of terror
A Hiss of horror
Stillness of death
Life’s last breathe ...

Food for Thought

Sometime a single moment teaches you what the years of life’s experiences fails to convey….

As the auto moved from the lanes of the Inderlok metro station to the jamming traffic, I saw a mass of people carrying their loved one through the last walk of the life literally. Adorned in the color of peace, engulfed in the mourning, one of them accidentally, stepped in the traffic head on. He was instantly harassed by a shearing horn from a man on the scooter who seemed to be in too much of a hurry. The incident stamped on to my mind and every time I happened to pass that place on that very road it happened to replay.

It stuck me then.........

We as humans in our lives experience every emotion. Love, hurt, possession, obsession, hatred and many more yet we fail to acknowledge them when we see the same shades in others. We all experience love. We all instinctively know that love can not be chopped yet the first thing we tell a friend with a broken heart is ‘get over it’ when we ourselves can not mend the burning wound created a life time back.

The guy on the scooter wasn’t insensitive to the feelings of attachment rather he was handicapped when he had to relate them with a stranger. The friend, who hopelessly tries to convince the other that somehow he has been misled, is blinded by the care and concern that he happens to forget that his friend is as much of a bone and flesh as he himself is. These reactions are triggered neither by the thoughtlessness nor by the lack of time and concern for others, as per me the roots of the problems are deeper and more subtle.

We as humans are parochial in our mind frame to an extent that every ‘emotion’ we experience is dependent on the people we share them with. We experience, share, feel every emotion yet we fail to register and save it in our hearts without our own faces. We fail to give our feelings an independent identity so much so that we are paralyzed when we have to project them on a stranger. Our life is engrossed in our affairs to a degree that there is absolutely no room for a stranger.

And it is thanks to this ‘thinking’ of ours that there is this unconquerable wall between us and our strangers. It is this very seed that prevents us from feeling the needs of the other people, that triggers insensitivity in our thoughtlessness and it is also that same feeling of ‘nuclearity’ that makes us say our own friends and family ‘YOU WON’T UNDERSTAND!!’

PS: Live every experience life throws on you and while booking it into your memory remember to detach yourself from it so that you could relate it with every one around you and hence touch every soul. And learn to unclose your self for a few around you for they face and experience the same thing, as, though life has varied shades but it unfailingly colors each person’s life some time or the other.

The source....

Under the shivering water
As the stone rattles
In the face of the reflections that form
A poem is born….

Under the dead sky
In the subtle moon-light
As the shadow down the window forms
A poem is born….

As the child cries
With its first whisper in the life
In the mist of mother’s eyes that forms
A poem is born….

In the feel of a constant presence
In the solitude and silence,
In the inseparable union that forms
A poem is born….

In the emptiness of the juggling clocks
Ticking through the sand that rocks
Under the marks of the roads
Traveled un-traveled by unspoken modes
On the dust of the mind
Far ahead of the paper with the ink-form
The best poems are born
The best poems are born….

Fiction is the truth inside the lie.

TIME...

There is a purpose and proper time for everything.
EVERYTHING.....

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.
A time for the past, and the time for the LAST....

The Garden...

I went to the Garden of Love.
And saw what I never had seen:
A Chapel was built in the midst,
Where I used to play on the green.

And the gates of this Chapel were shut,
And "Thou Shalt Not", writ over the door;
So I turn'd to the Garden of Love,
That so many sweet flowers bore,

And I saw it filled with graves,
And tomb-stones where flowers should be:
And Priests in black gowns, were walking their rounds,
And on stake were put , my joys & sorrows for free....

Word’s World Literally!! ……

I initially wanted to tag the writing as ‘Through the eyes of an introvert’ but it would have been psychologically a wrong usage, for ‘introvert’ refers to some one who is within himself/ herself and with my GRE approaching I wanted to give room to the ‘nuances’.

Scene 1
Take 1: Sitting among a group of friends who were apparently discussing (umm.. what were they discussing?) umm…SOMETHING (I was too busy absorbing the play of emotions on their faces, to acknowledge what was the topic of discussion!).

One of them says what do u think?
Me: Yeah what(mera naam bola na kissi ne)?
Ouff... you are lost in your own world again!
Me: Ummm….(o.0.O since when was it ‘being in my own world’ :( )

Take 2: Ahh 2 frenz and me.….
(Now that’s fun, more like my scene….)
From serious ‘intricacies’ to the usual and mind you also the unusual ‘bantering’
Bingo I am part of it (in and out)…
(I have enough time to register the modulation of the tone, the slight shift in the facial expressions and even that little gleam in the eyes and still be the part of the conversation and even enjoy it EUREKA!)
The best is undoubtedly one to one…. my multitasking capabilities at their best…
(or is it?)

Scene 2:
Joint studying (Even Univ exams sound interesting ab!)
Nanti: lets divide the course and then would explain to the other
Srishti: sends the word doc with mem 1,2,3 in diff font colors…(this happens during the time nanti and I am ‘discussing’ who shud do what?)

Time for discussion…

Take 1:
Me: well…I mean….it says…u know…its obvious….that is…
Nanti: abe kya bol rahe hai?
Take 2:
Me: GGSN is another supporting node that is required for GSM
Srishti: GSM ya GPRS?
Me: GPRS obv wohi to discuss karing
Nanti: Tune GSM bola tha pallo, theek se bol
Me: Now did I? Kab? Arre I meant that only…
Srishti: koi nayi baat nahi hai ab tak aadat padh gayi hai….
Take 3: (time for girl talk…)
Me:I mean….u know…it was like…
Ouch! Not again….

Scene 3:
While running to my room to catch up with my ‘the then made’ schedule (it was around an year back!) I pass through the courtyard (I was in the hostel then!) and see this girl sitting quite and looking up in the no-space (the betraying scene of the world is crumbling underneath). I walk up to her and I have never found silence more powerful. After about 15 min’s or so she finally managed crumpled words which was just what the doctor ordered!
She recently filled in my ‘autograph diary’ which said ‘Di! I never really spoke that day and yet….’

While traveling in the metro I see this friend of mine, a shade ‘chip torn’, and I hear another ‘How did you know?’ And the best was when one of my friends said ‘am I that transparent?’
HeHe…Naa I am a little too weird (o O…I mean I have never really been good with words ‘personally’ so I don’t really need them)…
Hmm….you are too sensitive she replied …
Umm….mebbe!

Scene 4:
Take 1:
Tune use kuch kaha kyu nahi
Me: yaar pata nahi I can’t say it out loud?
Haan but affect sab karta hai...bol ke side ho ja! Umm…yaar why are you itna hyper-sensitive?Nobody thinks itna...
Me: (o0O… abhi tak to sensitive thi abhi ye hyper sensitive kaise?).

Take 2:
Me: wassup?
Nothing.Call kyu kia?
Me: aise he
Bol to fir kuch?
Me: Kya bolon?
Kya hua?
Me: umm…nothing will talk later when you are free abhi xams and all are on so u would be busy
Bol naa. Tujhe kya pata main free hun ya nahi?
Me: nahi baad mein karenge
Oufff! Itna dimaag mat lagaya kar (jo tere paas hai nahi)!
(o0O….now was I not thinking about the other person?)…

Scene 5
Me: Haan to yahi to kaha tha
2 din pehle u said something else
Me: arre it meant the same thing naa
Gawd the two things aren’t same
Me: No but I MEANT the same thing!
But they were NOT the same things!
Me: Are you saying I am a liar?
Now I didn’t say that?
Me: But that’s wot it means?
Ouff!! Now don’t turn maudlin!
Me: But…I mean…you to should … understand…
Rehne de
(Touche!...weren’t you the one, I could manage complete sentences with?
Umm…then what the hell happened?)

Scene 6:
NAHI I don’t wanna c WHATS NEXT! Hehehe..

Well it’s a word's-world with the 'word's-worth' literally !!
Is not it?

PS:-Strangely the word ‘word’ was coined in the year 1467 (which was far before the word ‘language’ was coined in the year 1588) and it meant ‘one or more spoken sounds’ and considering what it means today the word ‘word’ has surely come a full circle. Surely!

Spider's Web

Climbing and weaving, Stumbling and heaving
Breaking and making, failing yet staking
We have all seen spiders spinning a web
But I saw a spider stuck in its own web.

Clambering, faulting in the slippery terrain
Building the dream grain by grain
We have all seen spiders spinning a web
But I saw a spider stuck in its own web

Struggling to break the shackles inlaid
Swearing to cut the wild goose chase
We have all seen spiders spinning a web
But I saw a spider stuck in its own web.

‘It’ had a mind of its own
That failed to stimulate the existent mind-fold
We have all seen spiders spinning a web
But I saw a spider stuck in its own web.

It couldn’t break free the ‘existent’ yet ‘senseless’ morals dame
Nor could it live in the stifling frame….
‘It’ twisted and churned
Divided in the world of its ‘web’ and its ‘own’…
We have all seen spiders spinning a web
But I saw a spider stuck in its own web.

Would it ever realize that it is not alone
It’s the very lane that makes us ‘grown’
Choosing from the ‘ideas’ that were initially imposed
Would make it comprehend the ideas ‘IT’ pose…

Nothing is ever forced
Neither the boundaries nor the folds…
We have all seen spiders spinning a web
But I saw a spider stuck in its own web
I wish the spider wins over the ‘struggle’
To find that its ‘web’ was its very ‘own’.

There is always a last...

I read this report in the newspaper about suicide and wondered what exactly can drive us to the verge of ending the most beautiful gift god has given us...
.... the thought itself was enough for me to feel sad the whole day I fail to understnd the circumstances...

For everything there must come a last.
A last minute
a last hour,
a last month,
day, or year.

A last drink,
a last coke,
a last smile,
a last choke.

A last love,
a last heart,
a last kiss,
hug by far...

Or even the last words
written on a page.

But the worst last thing
is your last breath
because what is to follow
will surely be your death.

PS:- There is a last to everything...
and that inlcudes even you pain...

Cant think of a suitable title...

I felt too strange and so....

Window panes come crashing down
Amidst the tears and pain
Vanishing hopes are gone and flew away
Up above through twilight
Shadows cast across the floor
Reflections of the past
Trembling thoughts of one
Dwelling deep within the soul
A mystical sense of reality
Captured by the craze
All in bewilderment
Of the shock in the wave
Creatures of the dimness
Chattering amongst the green
Everything slows in stillness
What is this I see?

DIARY DIARY DIARY….

My room was a big time MESS!! So much so that I was distracted even with Richard Bach ‘the one’ in my hand! Clothes all over the settee (which was ‘originally’ meant for some1 to sit!) and my bed with piles of books so I LOST IT and started the SAFAI-ABHIYAN that meant pouring my wardrobe to spilling my study table and its endless mess and I FOUND SO MANY INTERESTING THINGS IN THE PROCESS..

...I found my endless range of pencils, pens, scales, refills different types pf pages(yup pages! U read it right. U ll find with me anything and everything that can even remotely pinch the tag of ‘STATIONARY’!) but THE BEST was I found my DIARY (pata nahi kahan chhupa ke rakhi thi jo ab mili hai bevakoof se! gawd it was my school time diary!).

It was so much fun reading it all over again (JESUS CHRIST! I was such a ‘nut-case’ then! not that I have improved much!). Those sketches, poems, stories, paintings and not to mention the endless fever of basket ball and CRICKET…there was even something on SKATING ( o0O..when did I ever get interested in SKATING??).

And you know the best part was the DIARY ENTRIES...
(Dont tell ne1 but even the worst of ‘sob-stuff’ could only manage to make me ‘embarassed’ that I was ACTUALLY really bothered by such ‘trivialities’)…
JJJJEEEEZZZZ(I am destroying this diary before some1 gets his/her hand on it).

And yet it had some really ‘beautiful moments’, their USP being they were too ‘plain’ too simple, too innocent just too pure!!

Hmm... You know the best part about diaries is that in those few minutes you get to ‘relive’ the whole life it spans for you in those words. Every moment, every tear and that ever so beautiful smile!! And the best of all it makes you live your 'growth’ literally and realize your own fallacies…..

PS:- I saw the truth in what you had said… most of my problems were ‘in my head’ they never really existed!! It was ‘in the mind’ coz it was never ‘on my lips’!! SILLY ME! Never mind we all LEARN sooner or later...

I WISH IT CONTINUES….

Buzzzzzzzzzz the ALARM spoons (and not to mention with it my beautiful dream of…. oo0 which company was I dreaming of today?? Never mind my list is tooooo long to exhaust THAT soon so there would be another tomorrow!!) huh but I had just slept man it was 3 0’clock 2 mins back!! And following the same arithmetic laws when I open my eyes 2 mins later its 8 in my watch! (There surely is something called clock theory along with number theory and graph theory! Which is yet undiscovered to the ordinary souls like ME)

LATE AGAIN….. Phew

So I wake up with my simple prayer and my daunting resolution of (no prize for guessing) WAKING UP AT 6 !! and when I just put my feet on the floor the dangling mesh off WIRES (u c the modem, the lappy, the RJ-56 and the telephone sockets) unfailingly welcome me to the real world once again and I ALWAYS get messed up in them w/o my specks and nearly fall (so I grudgingly thank them for helping me get over my sleep with their jerky good morning means!)...

So there is the foundation of my second and third resolution!!
Ahh and finally main n meri BOOKS resume the journey once again!!

Hehehe….. it reminds me of the Bournvita Quiz Contest’s title song BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS lalalala…

Its crazy meddling with GRE preps, placement scenes and ohh so boring colg exams and yet so INTERESTING (I know I m crazy now u know it too)! 1 minute I am learning parallel computing , the next minute SLR rotations of the AVL trees and just the next gobbling the word-list! Hehehe…and just to pep the things a little trying to read the PRINTF library file… what would one call all this? I don’t know what you would call it but I would call it…

BLISS!! Ohh yeah sheer BLISS

Living in the world of ‘sensibilities’ explained through the magnifying glass of ‘logical reasoning’ and ‘endless theories’ is soooooo contagious! It is like being lost in a world that always has reasons to bag it (and if there are exceptions there are endless reasons for them too prolly more logical then the rest). Everything is so planned, so fixed so IN THE BOX!!
Gawd I can live with them all my life it reminds me of the days of my 11-12 when there was absolutely no concept of day and night! I never ate I never slept there were always things I was engrossed in the things that were invigorating rather than taxing…ummm sheer bliss no doubt absolute bliss

Gawd I thot I had lost it. The tempo, the zeal that feeling of getting completely occupied in my dream and bang its back again and I am loving it rather I am basking in its glory. No movie, no ride, no amount of talk can be more rejuvenating than this feeling (I was always convinced I was an alien). Strangely so I am not concerned about the result… I don’t care whether I make it to my WISH LIST for its not the thought of the end result that’s making me slog or be completely lost from the world around me but it’s the journey, this beautiful mindlessness, the numbness and yet the feeling of being completely alive!

I AM LOVING EVERY MOMENT OF IT….

PS:- All those who think I SLOG (If this is what they meant by it) I just have to say U R SO RIGHT !!

Life is all about catching hold of things in a tight fist but never ever expecting that when you will open it you would even find teh remains...

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.”
“People so seldom say I love you And then it's either too late or love goes. So when I tell you I love you, It doesn't mean I know you'll never go, Only that I wish you didn't have to.”
